Davis is set for a big year!
Senior point guard R.J. Davis has been named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List. Since he arrived in Chapel Hill, Davis has gotten better each year. His shooting ability last season made him one of the most lethal players in the ACC. This season, he may have the chance to play off the ball more, allowing for more set-shot opportunities.
High Praise
Three players in UNC history have won the Bob Cousy Award: Raymond Felton, Ty Lawson, and Kendall Marshall. Being among those names would boost Davis’s legend in Chapel Hill.
Expectation
Surely many around the country expect Davis to be one of the top point guards in all of college basketball. Although he has been a scoring guard, Davis has averaged three assists throughout his career. Now that Davis is playing on a team full of veterans, we may see him take another step. He will likely be named to a preseason All-ACC team. Davis will be one of the leaders for this squad, and his presence on the court will make UNC tough to guard, especially if he is able to be off the ball more. Last season, he averaged 16.1 points, 3.1 assists, and 5 rebounds.
This should be a great season for Davis and the Tar Heels!
