The former Tar Heel got an NBA deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Nance was signed to a training camp deal yesterday.
Summer League Stats
After going undrafted, Pete Nance was picked up by the Cavaliers to play in the Summer League. He had a solid outing during those games, knocking down three-pointers, playing good defense, and making the right pass. Through the few games of Summer League, Nance averaged 7.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He will now have a chance to prove himself further.
Last Year at UNC
Nance was brought to UNC through the transfer portal. Originally playing at Northwestern, he was supposed to be the replacement for Brady Manek. Unfortunately, Nance is really more of a center and was forced to play power forward all year. He struggled at times to hit the three, but did what he could under the circumstances. With North Carolina, he averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
Family Ties
Nance has ties to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both his dad, Larry, and brother, Larry Jr., played for them. His dad is a legend for the organization, and his brother was a solid member of their team. Larry Jr. still plays in the NBA and has bounced around from team to team. Seeing all three family members get to play for the same team is very rare, as is having three people in the same family play in the NBA.
This is great news for Nance, who will hopefully have a long and successful career!
