Next Saturday, North Carolina will set the tone for the upcoming season…

We are officially a week away from the Tar Heels opener against South Carolina in Charlotte. There are a ton of storylines heading into this game. There are also things we don’t quite know yet regarding both teams. Either way, in seven days, both North and South Carolina will put it all on the field in this rivalry game.

What we know

  • North Carolina will head into this game looking to make a statement.
  • One of, if not the best quarterback in college football is looking to start his Heisman campaign.
  • South Carolina has recruiting momentum, will this game solidify their place atop the Carolinas (excluding Clemson)?

What we don’t know

  • Will Tez Walker be eligible?
  • Which Spencer Rattler will UNC face, the world beater or the one that looks like a backup?
  • Will South Carolina’s top transfers be healthy enough to play?
  • How will UNC’s offense look under a new offensive coordinator?

These two teams do not like each other. They have split wins over the last five seasons and this game is often referred to when deciding who is the “real Carolina.” In a week, North Carolina better be ready to make a statement.

One thing we can all agree on is that it’s good to have college football back!
