Who are the best to ever wear the number 4 jersey at North Carolina?

Today we are going to look at the few players who have worn the 4 at UNC. There aren’t many, but the few that did are notable for many different reasons. We take a look at them here.

Notable Players to Wear 4

RJ Davis– Current North Carolina point guard RJ Davis has been fantastic over the last three years. Although undersized, Davis is a tough player who has improved his game every season. He shoots the ball at a high clip and can get to the rim very well. During his junior season, Davis averaged 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He was a key part of the Tar Heels championship run during his sophomore year.

Isaiah Hicks– Over his four-year UNC career, Hicks was often the sixth man. With averages of 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds during his college days, he was a part of a loaded frontcourt that featured Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks. Hicks started to blossom during his junior year, winning ACC Sixth Man of the Year. He finally started his senior season and was a key part of North Carolina’s 2016-2017 national championship team. In that title game, Hicks put up 13 points and 9 rebounds.

Brandon Robinson– A role player for his first three years, Robinson took off during his senior season. That final year, he averaged 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. He also shot 37% from three on almost 7 attempts per game in his last season. He was part of the 2016-2017 national championship team as well.

Bobby Fraser– Fraser was thrown into the fire as a freshman and made it work. Over his career, he played as a role player and helped the team when they needed it. His freshman season was his best, and he was named to the ACC All-Freshman team. He stayed all four years and ended up winning a national championship. His veteran presence was great to have during his final two seasons.

Makhtar Ndiaye– A transfer from Michigan, Ndiaye was a serviceable big man for the Tar Heels. He was a member of multiple notable teams where he played with Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter, and Ed Cota. A fan favorite, Ndiaye was often smiling and hyping his teammates up. He averaged 5.8 points and 4.1 assists in his senior season.

Although not many have worn it, there are some fun names on this list. Happy July 4th everyone!
