UNC is making noise, and the media has taken notice.

North Carolina won in a tough environment on Wednesday night and dominated Syracuse at home today. Those wins and the fact that UNC is the only team in the ACC without a conference loss have gotten the attention of national media. The Tar Heels are being talked about as a final four contender, and for good reason.

Media Taking Notice

Since North Carolina’s losses to UConn and Kentucky, the Tar Heels have been dominant. There is an obvious focus on getting stops above all else. After today’s blowout win over Syracuse, it looks like UNC can be a real contender. So, what are those in the media saying?

ESPN’s Jeff Borzelo: “North Carolina held its last three opponents to fewer than 60 points, then comes out today and drops 103 points in a 36-point win over Syracuse. Tar Heels look like a bonafide Final Four contender and RJ Davis has been the best guard in the country this season.”

Jeff Goodman: “North Carolina has won 5 straight, 3 in a row on the road and the Tar Heels are crushing Syracuse by 22 at the half. UNC defense has been so good the last few games, and Hubert Davis also trusting his bench.”

Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney: “Tar Heels are the best team in the ACC right now, and I’m not sure it’s close.”

Today was the worst ACC loss in Syracuse history. North Carolina is playing inspiring basketball, feeding off of each other, and out-toughing opponents on the way to wins.
