Lunardi has been kind to the Tar Heels this year.

After North Carolina picked up two more ACC wins over good teams, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi predicted an even higher seed than before. The last time he posted one, the Tar Heels were a 3-seed. Now, Lunardi has moved them to an even better spot. He also talks about whether UNC can get to a 1-seed eventually.

The Update

Lunardi posted his latest version of Bracketology this morning. In it, he has North Carolina as a 2-seed. It is the highest he has had the Tar Heels yet. The wins are piling up, and they are against good competition. The schedule UNC has played is shaping how they are viewed. If the Heels take care of business, the sky is the limit.

Thinking About a One-Seed?

In the update, Lunardi says, “UNC is doing everything it failed to do a year ago as the nation’s preseason No. 1. Will it be enough for a No. 1 seed in two months? Questionable … but we’re at least having the conversation.” It sounds like there is some belief that the Tar Heels can reach a new peak. Lunardi seems to believe in UNC and how they are playing. Although still far out, if the Tar Heels could get to a 1-seed, it would be the first since 2018-2019.
