Does Lunardi have it right?

After North Carolina’s dominant play over the last month, they are up to #4 in the nation. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi even has the Tar Heels as one of the top seeds in the country. He has been moving UNC up slowly, but after last week’s performances, he’s got the team at the very top.

Latest Seed Prediction

In his most recent Bracketology, Lunardi has the Tar Heels as a one seed. Last week, it was a two and has continued to improve as North Carolina builds its resume. UNC used defense to get the job done against NC State and then dominated both sides of the ball in a blowout win over Syracuse. It has been an impressive few weeks for the Heels, and they are looking like a contender. UNC now enters a five-game stretch where three of the contests are at home.

Other Teams to Watch

Lunardi has five ACC teams making the tournament. On top of that, a few of UNC’s non-conference opponents are in his projected field.

ACC

Duke: 3-seed

Clemson: 5-seed

Wake Forest: 11-seed

Miami: 12-seed

Non-Conference

UConn: 1-seed

Tennessee: 2-seed

Kentucky: 3-seed

Oklahoma: 5-seed

Florida Atlantic (secret scrimmage): 6-seed

Villanova: 7-seed

The Tar Heels have positioned themselves favorably. Next up is Louisville on Wednesday night in Chapel Hill.
