UNC is one of five schools on his list.

North Carolina is now one of five schools fighting for Kentucky transfer Adou Thiero. He entered the portal on March 28th, shortly after the Wildcats season ended. Since then, dozens of schools have reached out, but he is choosing to focus on a select few.

Top 5 List

North Carolina– Should Harrison Ingram move on, Thiero would be a nice replacement.

Kentucky– A return to his former school, which is under new leadership.

Arkansas– His coach from Kentucky, John Calipari, is now with the Razorbacks.

Indiana– The Hoosiers have put together a very nice portal class. Adding Thiero would be huge.

Pittsburgh– Thiero is from Pennsylvania, and this would move him closer to home.

Season with Kentucky

In his sophomore season with the Wildcats, Thiero averaged 7.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 21.3 minutes per game. He also shot 49.3%, and 31.8% from three. He missed over a full month of action with a back issue from late December to late January. After that, Thiero also dealt with a thumb injury in March.

Recruiting Rank

247Sports currently lists Thiero as the 22nd-best prospect in the transfer portal.

Out of high school, he was a 4-star. He will still have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Will the Tar Heels be able to reel Thiero in?
