What a game from Withers!

North Carolina forward Jae’Lyn Withers had his best game of the season, and he did it against his former team. Withers was all over the court, making plays, drawing contact, and helping lead the Tar Heels to victory. He was a spark off the bench, especially when UNC needed it.

Taking Down His Former Team

Withers was exactly what North Carolina needed as they sputtered in the second half. Already having a good game, when the Cardinals made a huge run after halftime, Withers made multiple plays that flipped the momentum back in the Tar Heels favor. His activity on offense, making cuts to the basket, and drawing contact helped push the lead back to double digits. On the night, Withers finished the game with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He shot 83% from the field and made five of his seven free throws.

History With Louisville

Withers spent three seasons at Louisville before his transfer to UNC. His best year there was as a freshman, where he averaged 10.1 points and 7.7 rebounds. He is from Charlotte, North Carolina, but played high school ball in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cardinals were solid during his first year but have taken a tumble over the past three seasons. Now, Withers is closer to home and playing for a nationally ranked team.

It is good to have Withers in Carolina blue!
