Ian Jackson Schedules Official Visit Amid Rumors

Ian Jackson

Lots of info swirling about Jackson over the last 24 hours.

Ian Jackson is one of the best players in the 2024 class. The 6’5, 185-pound shooting guard out of New York is a true scorer. Anywhere you want a bucket on the court, Jackson can get it. He has been dominant in high school, AAU, and nationwide events that he has been invited to. Jackson also frequently works out with Chris Brickely, where he is facing NBA players. Now, Jackson has scheduled an official visit to Chapel Hill while rumors of a de-commitment swirl.

Outside Noise

Jackson shocked everyone when he chose the Tar Heels over Kentucky. Long seen as a Wildcat lean, his visit to UNC changed everything. It was all good until Rick Pitino was hired by St. Johns. Since then, that New York connection has had people link Jackson and Pitino. It didn’t help that former Tar Heel commit Simeon Wilcher asked out of his National Letter of Intent and chose St. Johns. On multiple occasions, Jackson has been asked about the situation, and has shut the rumors down every time. He claims he is coming to North Carolina and will be a Tar Heel.

Official Visit

Jackson will visit Chapel Hill on November 3rd. The timing is promising, being that the noise around his commitment hasn’t been this loud in a while. Is Jackson trying to counter that by showing his loyalty? Time will tell. He is extremely talented, and UNC will want to keep him a Tar Heel.

This is a recruitment that will have rumors swirling until he is on a college campus.
