Class of 2024 commit Ian Jackson makes Team USA!

The Under-19 roster for Team USA has been announced, and another Tar Heel is on the roster. Ian Jackson, currently ranked as the number 5 player in the class of 2024, is an electric prospect. Jackson is the highest-ranked shooting guard North Carolina has brought in since Wayne Ellington.

The Recruitment

Jackson’s recruitment was one that many believed would be hard for Hubert Davis to win. Long seen as a Kentucky lean, Jackson officially visited North Carolina on January 6th and committed just ten days later. For over a year, many thought that there was no chance he would land anywhere but Lexington, as they had been on him for some time. But the visit to Chapel Hill changed everything. Until the final day of his recruitment, it was unknown where he would choose, and the decision to choose the Tar Heels shocked the recruiting world.

Jackson’s Ability

Ian Jackson is seen as one of the best scorers in high school ball. From the Bronx, Jackson has a fire to him that many attribute to players that come out of New York. Furthermore, Jackson is a guy who gets to his spots on the court, shoot pull-up jumpers, create his own shot, and is athletic enough to get to the rim with ease.

Team U.S.A

Now on a loaded Team USA roster, Jackson is working on his ball handling and will likely see a lot of minutes. This is a player North Carolina fans should be excited about and keep an eye on.
