It would be big if Ryan can play!

North Carolina is preparing for a huge matchup against #10 Tennessee on Wednesday night. Coming off an interesting trip to the Bahamas, UNC is set to play a very difficult schedule over the next month. They will need everyone ready to go, including Cormac Ryan, who hurt his ankle in the second game of Battle 4 Atlantis.

Update on His Ankle

With just three seconds left in the Tar Heels loss to Villanova, Ryan tried to throw the ball off the front of the rim for a rebound and put-back opportunity. In the process, he jumped and rolled both ankles. In his press conference today, Coach Davis was asked for an update on Ryan and had this to say: “He’s going to try to practice today, he’s getting better each day, but it’s still uncertain whether he’ll be good enough to play tomorrow night or not.”

The good news is that he did not appear to be a boot the day after the injury. UNC has had its fair share of ankle injuries over the years.

Ryan’s Impact

Although he hadn’t found his stride in the Tar Heels first three home games, he looked good in the Bahamas. He scored 15 in the win over Northern Iowa, and then 18 against Villanova. If this team is to reach its ceiling, Ryan will be a big reason why. His shooting, IQ, and defense are all things this team needs.

UNC hosts Tennessee on Wednesday night at 7:15 p.m.
