Davis gave an update on Trimble today.

Today, North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis held a press conference (as he does every week) where a multitude of questions were asked. Among those was the status of UNC guard Seth Trimble, who was unavailable on Tuesday, when the Tar Heels lost to Clemson at home. The interview, linked here, was uploaded by Tar Heel Tribune.

Status Update

Trimble missed the loss to Clemson with an “upper-body injury.” Now, Davis says that he is continuing to improve, and he will be a game-time decision on Saturday. Davis mentioned that Trimble is getting better everyday. This update seems positive, as it sounds like Trimble avoided anything major.

Missing Link

On Tuesday, the Tar Heels missed Trimble’s defense and athleticism. He is North Carolina’s best defensive guard and has been tasked with shutting down the opponent’s best. Clemson guard Joe Girard scored 21 points against UNC. In the first meeting between the two schools, Girard was held to just five points.

Miami is a guard-heavy team that has three members of its backcourt averaging 13.9 points per game or more. Trimble would be tasked with attempting to slow them, and his athleticism would be welcomed. UNC guard Elliot Cadeau has struggled with foul trouble, and without Trimble, the team is having to look deeper into the bench for production.

Hopefully, Trimble will be good to go against Miami.
