PFF just released their preseason All-ACC teams, including four Tar Heels.

With the season inching closer, many publications are releasing their preseason awards. Pro Football Focus (PFF) released theirs today. On that list, North Carolina had four players. Three were on offense, while one made the defensive team. With a season full of expectations coming up, let’s hope these guys live up to this honor.

Offense

Drake Maye– This was likely their easiest choice. The star quarterback is seen as one of the top prospects in the country and is likely a top-10 draft pick after the season. Maye dominated on the field last year and racked up post-season awards. He accumulated 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns last season. Maye will be a Heisman candidate throughout the season.

Devontez Walker– Coaches and fans alike have raved about the Kent State transfer. Last season, Walker caught 58 passes for 921 yards and 11 touchdowns. When Kent State faced eventual champion Georgia last season, Walker had seven catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. He looks to be a big part of the offense next season.

Bryson Nesbit– Looked at as one of the best tight ends in college football next season, Nesbit is poised for a big year. His height and frame at his position create matchup problems for any opposing defense. At 6’5, Nesbit is faster than most linebackers but taller than defensive backs. Last season, he had 35 catches, 507 yards, and four touchdowns.

Defense

Cedric Gray– A bright spot on the defense, Gray could have gone to the NFL after last season. Instead, he returns to lead a Tar Heel defense looking to improve. Gray was named First Team All-ACC last year and will be a leader for this year’s team.

These players will need to show up every game in order for the Tar Heels to meet their goals.
