The Kentucky star enjoyed his trip to UNC a little too much!

Theo Pinson’s podcast ‘Run Your Race’ is a must-listen. He shares funny stories, his journey to the league, and often brings on guests. He always seems to have good chemistry with whoever is on, and it makes for a great show. This week, he had former Kentucky Wildcat and current Los Angeles Laker, Jarred Vanderbilt.

Why Did He Choose UK?

Pinson revealed that when Vanderbilt visited Chapel Hill, he hosted the recruit. When the visit concluded, Pinson thought he would come to UNC. The pair had fun, and Pinson told coaches that Vanderbilt was “on the way.” Vanderbilt admitted that the North Carolina visit was one of his best. Vanderbilt then admitted that he was trying to get to the league quickly and that Kentucky was the best route. Following that, Vanderbilt revealed that his mother thought he had “too much fun” at Carolina. He then insinuated that if it were up to him, things might have been different.

Vanderbilt’s Career

After averaging 5.9 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Wildcats but only played 14 games due to injury. He was then selected in the second round of the NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets. Since then, he has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, and now the Lakers. He has been praised for his defense and ability to stick with smaller players while having a height advantage.

Pinson and Vanderbilt seem to be friends to this day and had a great time on the podcast. What could have been?
