Drake Powell continues to rise in the rankings!

Class of 2024 UNC commit Drake Powell just rose in the rankings again. He has steadily risen over the last year, impressing at every event he is a part of. Powell was a 4-star not long ago, but now he is one of the top 5 players in his class, according to 247Sports!

Powell’s Game

When he committed to UNC, Powell was seen as a defensive menace that would be a project for the Tar Heels. That is no longer the case. Powell has made major strides in his game over the last few months, and his ranking shows that. He has improved his jump shot, his dribbling and playmaking have reached a much higher level, and defensively, he remains elite. Powell impressed on the AAU circuit all summer, playing for Team CP3. Against other top talent, he played great.

Profile and Senior Season

For his final year of high school basketball, Powell decided to remain at Northwood High in Pittsboro, North Carolina, rather than play at a prep school. He is a 6’6, 170-pound wing that has really done well in putting his game together. Powell has been so impressive over the last few months.

Ascent

A year ago tomorrow, Powell was ranked as the 56th best player in the country and a 4-star. He made his jump into the top 20 in March before playing his way into the top 10 in June. Since then, he has gotten better and is now the number 4 player in the class. This not only puts more eyes on him but also boosts North Carolina’s recruiting class.

Chapel Hill has a good one coming in 2024!
