The ACC awarded two more Tar Heels!

After beating Syracuse handily, North Carolina was sure to have some of their players awarded. That is exactly what happened as quarterback Drake Maye and wide receiver Nate McCollum got this week’s honors at their positions. Since McCollum returned from injury, he has been one of Maye’s favorite targets.

ACC Quarterback of the Week

Not only one of the best quarterbacks in the conference, but in the country, continues to impress. Maye did just about everything right on Saturday. Syracuse struggled to contain him in the run game, and he made the right reads passing. With the weapons UNC has around him, Maye only gets better as the game goes on.

Final Stats: Maye completed 33 of his 47 pass attempts for 442 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran 14 times for 55 yards and a score. All of this was done without Maye playing the last half of the fourth quarter.

ACC Wide Receiver of the Week

Nate McCollum has been unstoppable. Since returning from his injury and missing the South Carolina game, McCollum and Maye have been one of the best QB-WR duos in the nation. McCollum’s ability to create separation has given the Tar Heels a much-needed boost. He gets it done, whether it’s a short route or a deep one where he burns defenders. The transfer from Georgia Tech has been a blessing for this team.

Final Stats: Seven catches for 135 yards. McCollum’s impact was felt even without a touchdown in the game.

These two are sure to link up for many more crazy stat lines this season.
