Congratulations to Drake!

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye has declared for the NFL draft. The Charlotte native spent three years with the Tar Heels and now leaves as a likely top-five draft pick. He is one of, if not the best quarterback to ever play for UNC. He has a bright future ahead and will hopefully go to a situation where he has help. He will not play in North Carolina’s bowl game.

Hindsight

There are so many “what if’s” when it comes to Maye. He led an electric offense for two years that could score with anybody. Maye was a superstar for the Tar Heels, and had there been more wins would’ve likely been a Heisman candidate. It is rare that you get a Drake Maye to come to your college program.

2022: 342/517 passing, 4,321 yards, 38 touchdowns. 184 rushes for 698 yards and seven touchdowns.

2023: 269/425 passing, 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns. 112 rushes for 449 yards and nine touchdowns.

Mock Draft

Most mock drafts have Maye going in the top five. Either the Bears, Patriots, or Cardinals will be the likely landing spots. Wherever he goes, hopefully they have weapons and protection around him so that he can be successful. He has all the tools to be a franchise quarterback.

Best of luck in the future, Drake!
