The former Tar Heel remains one of the top veterans in the NBA.
NBA champion and former UNC star Danny Green has signed a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. It is a one-year contract that will bring a veteran presence to the squad. Green has had a 15-year NBA career, playing for six teams, and is a proven winner. He is a 3-time NBA champion who can provide leadership for any team that he is on.
Tar Heel Days
With North Carolina, Green played four seasons, being a huge presence the last two. Over his career, he averaged 9.4 points and 4.1 rebounds. However, in his senior season, Green averaged 13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.8 steals. He was a do-it-all player on a loaded team. Green also never lost to Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. With UNC, he won a National Championship, was named NCAA All-Region, and ACC All-Defensive Team. Green has represented North Carolina well in the pros, with one of the best careers for a Tar Heel in recent memory.
Pro Career
Although his NBA career got off to a slow start, Green took off with the San Antonio Spurs. He became a solid 3&D role player for the teams he was on. This led him to the long career he has had. Green has continued to be a major part of most teams he is on, and him being a reliable veteran is likely why he continues to get signed. He has won NBA championships with the Spurs, Raptors, and Lakers.
Green has made a ton of money and seen a lot of success. His longevity is something to be appreciated.
