UNC got their top wide receiver target in the 2024 class today!
North Carolina got a commitment from class of 2024 wide receiver Alex Taylor. The number 154-ranked prospect in the class, he is a 4-star that continues the Tar Heels recent success in landing top receivers. Taylor visited campus multiple times over the last few years and was battled for by multiple schools. He chose North Carolina over offers from Clemson, Virginia Tech, Penn State, NC State, and others.
The Player
Taylor is a 6’2, 175-pound receiver out of UNC pipeline Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. He joins a long list of players from the high school, including current defensive lineman Travis Shaw. Taylor is a tall, playmaking receiver who can do it all. He has already won a state championship and continues to show off his talent. Last season, Taylor tallied 65 catches for 1,034 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also plays on defense at times, where last year he had 11 tackles and three interceptions. Grimsley has become a powerhouse over recent years, and him being their number one wideout is a big deal.
Current UNC Class
With Taylor’s commitment, North Carolina has the 22nd-ranked class in 2024. They have had a recent influx of four stars that has boosted the ranking. With 24 commitments, the class still has time to grow and get better. North Carolina has also done a good job of getting in-state prospects, a trend that they continue to build on.
