UNC landed another 4-star on Monday!

North Carolina got its 24th commitment of the 2024 class today. 4-Star Safety Malcolm Ziglar chose the Tar Heels over South Carolina, Notre Dame, Clemson, Penn State and others. He held offers from 26 total schools. From Fuquay-Varina, Ziglar chose to stay home!

The Player

Ziglar is a 6’2, 200-pound safety. He is currently ranked 192nd in the country and the number 15 safety in the 2024 class. He jumped 180 spots in the updated 247Sports rankings. Not only is he a good football player, but also runs track. He is an all-around athlete that continues to improve. National Talent Scout for 247Sports, Gabe Brooks, had this to say about Ziglar: “Taller skill prospect who could play either way at the next level, but projects particularly well to the secondary as a lanky, rangy defensive back who could thrive at multiple positions. Extensive snaps at cornerback and comfortable in man or zone. Savvy, crafty defensive back with awareness and anticipatory instincts. Very good ball skills. Turns proverbial 50-50 balls into perilous situations for the offense. Also a threat to create a big play post-turnover thanks to functional athleticism.”

Current Class

With the commitment of Ziglar, UNC now has the 20th ranked class for 2024. The last and maybe next few recruits will all be from North Carolina. As Mack Brown has tried to do since he got back, he is getting an influx of in-state players. Having multiple recruits stay home is enticing to future recruits from the Tar Heel state! Defense continues to be an emphasis for next years class.
