North Carolina got its first commitment of the 2025 class with quarterback Bryce Baker.

After the biggest recruiting weekend of the Summer, North Carolina has landed two recruits, with more likely to follow. Bryce Baker, a 4-star quarterback, pledged to the Tar Heels on Tuesday. This gives North Carolina an anchor for the class, and will help with other recruits.

The Player

Baker stands at 6’3 and is ranked number 225 in his class. An in-state recruit, Baker is from Kernersville, and plays for East Forsyth High School. He held offers from Penn State, Duke, NC State, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and others. With a lot of high school ball left to play, along with camps, Baker will likely continue to rise in the rankings. His frame is ideal for a college quarterback and will surely continue to benefit him at the high school level.

Hot Start to the 2025 Class

Grabbing a quarterback, especially one so highly ranked, this early in the cycle gives the class good optics. Recruits can see who the future leader of the program will be. With time to help recruit, Baker can bring eyes to the program through camps and building relationships.

As expected, North Carolina is starting to see recruits join. The Summer is always active, and Mack Brown took advantage of that by hosting a number of recruits over the weekend. With commitment dates set, expect to see more recruits choose North Carolina in the coming days.
