The former teammates now both win the top individual award in their conference!
Yesterday, it was announced that North Carolina’s RJ Davis was the winner of the ACC Player of the Year award. Today, his former UNC teammate Caleb Love, now at Arizona, was named the PAC-12 Player of the Year. The two went on different paths but have found great success.
Former Teammates Thriving
No longer teammates, both Davis and Love have had career years. The former duo played well together, but both being dominant scorers, made for a tough dynamic. Now, both can add that they were their conferences player of the year award. Each is up for the Jerry West Award, which goes to the top shooting guard in the nation. Adding to that, Davis and Love were the leading scorers on both of their teams that won the regular season title in their conference.
Season Stats
RJ Davis– 21.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Shot 43.2% from the field and 41.6% from three.
Caleb Love– 18.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Shot 43% from the field and 35.2% from three.
The success of these two is something to be celebrated, as both have done great things for both North Carolina and themselves.
Also, Davis and Love are a combined 3-0 against Duke this season, sticking it to the Blue Devils once again, just like they did in the Final Four.
