Bracketology never stops.

North Carolina is off to a solid start, with two big non-conference games on the horizon. As he does all year long, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has posted what teams he thinks will make the tournament and where they will be seeded. Obviously, much will change between now and March, but it is still fun to look at. So, where does he have the Tar Heels?

Lastest Bracketology

The most recent update was on December 12th. In this edition, Lunardi has North Carolina as a 3-seed in the Indianapolis region. His 1-seed for the region is Purdue, and the 2-seed is Houston. He also has Oklahoma, Virginia, and Villanova in this portion of the bracket; all teams UNC will have played come March. Before the season started, Lunardi had North Carolina as a 6-seed, which tells you that this team is not what many expected.

Teams of Note

There are a lot of other teams that will have ties to UNC in his prediction. Whether it be ACC teams or non-conference opponents, the following squads performances will impact the Tar Heels seeding.

Salt Lake City Region: No opponents. Caleb Love and Arizona are the 1-seed here.

Indianapolis Region: 4-Seed- Oklahoma, 5-Seed- Virginia, 8-seed Villanova.

Brooklyn Region: 1-seed UConn, 3-seed Clemson, 4-seed FAU (secret scrimmage), 6-seed Kentucky, 8-seed Miami.

Omaha Region: 3-seed Tennessee, 6-seed Duke.

There’s a long way to go, but Lunardi sees something in UNC that has improved his opinion of the team.
