Things to Know

  • North Carolina last played Northern Iowa in Marcus Paige’s senior season as a sort of “homecoming” game. The Tar Heels were upset in a hard-fought game.
  • Villanova looks to improve on last season. I, for one, would love for Carolina to face them and get some long awaited revenge.
  • Texas Tech will also look to improve on last season. Former Tar Heel Kerwin Walton is a member of this team.
  • Michigan has a brand new squad. There was a lot of roster turnover, similar to UNC. Lately, North Carolina has fared well against the Wolverines.
  • Memphis is another team with a lot of fresh faces. Can Penny Hardaway finally make a deep tournament run?
  • Arkansas has been amazing since hiring Eric Musselman. He has the Hogs rolling, and the program continues to ascend.
  • Stanford is trying to improve their program overall. They have struggled recently. Current Tar Heel Harrison Ingram transferred from Stanford.
