What do you think of this quote by Oats?
Tomorrow night, North Carolina and Alabama will face one another for a spot in the Elite 8. Both teams had great seasons in their own right and have now advanced through the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
Not Worried
On Tuesday afternoon, Oats gave an interview on the Paul Finebaum show, and had a few quotes that seemed to lack respect for UNC and Armando Bacot.
At around the 57-minute mark, Oats says, “The good thing with us is we played three really good non-conference teams, like back-to-back-to-back that all had really good post players, and they’re all in the Sweet 16.” He would then say, “Carolina’s got Armando Bacot, we’ve been in these games. Now we haven’t been as successful. We went 0-4 in those games. But we’ve played guys like this. We’ve been in them. We were up nine in the second half on Purdue, which has got the best big in the country, so it’s not like we’re going to be intimidated by Bacot.”
Bacot has been one of the best centers in the entire country this season. Averaging 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds on the season, any of these tournament games could be his last in a North Carolina jersey.
Thursday night at 9:39, the Tar Heels look to move past Alabama.
