Good news for UNC!

North Carolina only played one game last week, and they lost it to UConn. The Huskies, who were also in the top 10, controlled much of the game. Usually, a loss drops you at least a bit, but for UNC, that did not happen, as they stayed at #9.

Why No Movement?

Although the Tar Heels dropped a game, UConn being #5 helped. Teams are not penalized as heavily for losing to top teams unless they get blown out. To go along with that, Gonzaga, who was #7, lost to unranked Washington. That pushed them three spots back, while Creighton jumped two spots and ahead of UNC.

ACC Making Noise?

There are five ACC teams ranked in the top 25. The biggest riser in the whole poll this week was Clemson, who remains undefeated and jumped 11 spots to #13. In past years, the Tigers start to fade in ACC play, but they look solid this season. Duke moved up a spot to #21 after beating UNC-Charlotte. Virginia still has only one loss and remains at #22. The final ACC team in the poll is Miami. They got beat by 27 against Colorado and dropped nine spots to #23. They have been blown out twice this year.

Non-Conference Opponents

Two non-ACC teams that North Carolina will play are ranked.

#11 Oklahoma is undefeated and looks to be the real deal.

#14 Kentucky has dropped two games to #2 Kansas and UNC-Wilmington. They are not at full strength yet, with players out for multiple reasons.

The Heels have a big opportunity on Saturday against Kentucky!
