A UNC Win Tonight Guarantees a Share of the ACC Title

What a turnaround season it has been for UNC.

In the final home game of the 2023-2024 season, a North Carolina win over Notre Dame can assure the Tar Heels that they get at least a split of the ACC regular season title. That has not been accomplished since 2019. On top of that, it is senior night at UNC, and those leaving deserve to go out with a win.

Battle For the ACC

North Carolina has remained atop the ACC for most of the year. The Tar Heels got off to a hot start, then took a few tough losses before getting it back together. Should they beat Notre Dame tonight, it will guarantee at least a split of the ACC title. UNC still has to go to Duke, the other team battling for the top spot. If the Tar Heels can win both games, they will end the season as the sole winners of the conference. A win tonight and a loss Saturday, and North Carolina would split the ACC regular season title with their hated rivals.

ACC Tournament Seeding Outcomes

Again, if the Tar Heels win both of their remaining games, they will win the regular season and be the #1 seed in the ACC tournament. A win tonight and a loss on Saturday would create a complicated scenario. In that instance, North Carolina would need Wake Forest or Pittsburgh to finish fourth in the conference, while Duke would hope for Clemson or Syracuse due to tie-breakers.

Remaining Schedules

Wake Forest– vs. Georgia Tech | vs. Clemson

Pittsburgh– vs. Florida State | vs. NC State

Clemson– vs. Syracuse | @ Wake Forest

Syracuse– @ Clemson

It will be a very close race to first.
