Huzzie has been UNC’s most impactful transfer.

North Carolina knew it was getting a great player when Alijah Huzzie committed to the program. He had been an FCS All-American at East Tennessee State, and the Tar Heels needed someone of his caliber. Through four games, Huzzie has been amazing for UNC. In each game, he has made standout plays, and against Pittsburgh, he went off.

Complete Game

Not only was he shutting receivers down in coverage, but Huzzie grabbed two interceptions. The defensive back has done the shutdown part all year, but this game he forced two turnovers.

  • First INT- A long throw down the field, Huzzie outran the receiver and grabbed it out of the air, falling into the endzone.
  • Second INT- The second interception looked like Pittsburgh quarterback Christian Veilleux thought Huzzie was on his team. He threw it right to Huzzie, who returned it for a nice gain and sealed the game.

Game Changing Play

UNC had been struggling and playing at the Panthers level. In a tie game, Huzzie returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown. This play swung all momentum, and from there, the Tar Heels never looked back. He has not had the opportunity to return punts this year, fair-catching most of them. But against the Panthers he ran wild returning two punts for 81 yards.

North Carolina is lucky to have a game changer like Huzzie.
